I feel Katie did an excellent job overall! This was my first book, so I had a lot of editing that needed to be done. I wrote the book several times over an extended time, so there was a lot of repetition and too much detail that I feel she did a great job sorting through. In the beginning we didn’t communicate clearly about time expectations. However, once we cleared that issue up she was awesome at doing all she could to ensure meeting deadlines, which I really appreciated. On the first edit, she missed a couple things like switching tenses, and proper capitalization/editing of headlines, however she brought the tense issue to my attention and went back to fix it for me. She did several edits, correcting tenses and headlines on her second edit. I am satisfied with her work and would hire her again and recommend her to others. Thank you Katie for all your hard work! 🙂
I must admit that English is not my first language, I am a bad writer, and I want a dream career. I appreciate the effort of what Chambers did for this course. She shared several helpful instructions from the websites, pdf files, and power points. She is very detailed and demonstrated us on how to type better sentences (which consists of powerful keywords, strong action verbs, characteristics of personality, a good result or achievements.) Please check the video if you are a typewriter or a person who most likely to say on the resumes, “I am a good person or I am a hard worker”. Believe me, nobody would take you seriously without giving good evidence. I also recommend people who want to pursue programming related jobs such as software engineers or data scientist. Especially good for people who struggled in writing. —I have a feeling that she used to be a programmer and knows the techy jargons. After finishing watching the courses and took little note…. How do I feel now? I feel little confident and I cannot wait to experiment or apply what learned from her. I have blue print in my head and I cannot wait to type my resumes.

Great content with specific examples on how to write from scratch or revamp a resume. The most difficult part for me was trying to edit and rewrite my resume objectively, without over indulging on job details or listing multiple jobs that have similar qualities. Katie describes how to discern which things should stay and go in the course and also offers an edit review when you are done to help keep you on track and your resume looking tip-top. Katie spoke knowledgably about the subject and clearly has a passion for teaching. Only real critique I have is the recorded volume was a bit low on most of the videos, however there are a few where the volume is normal and much louder than the others. Be aware of that if you are wearing ear buds or trying to work in a quiet place.
I was excited about the critiques. Katie made insightful recommendations/clarifications. I hope she is available for editing in the future. The deadlines were all met.
I took lots of resume and cover letter classes on Udemy. This is by far the best of the bests. Nearly every other courses parrot the same cliché advices over and over again, not this one.

Katie Chambers is a delight to work with. She is prompt, efficient, incredibly knowledgeable and very good at what she does, editing. She has edited my three children’s picture books and lifted them each to a higher level of writing. One of the picture books is a rhyming poem that was actually quite difficult to punctuate and phrase. Katie made sense of it all so I am now confident the poem reads as it was intended to read, and correctly relays when the narrator is thinking or speaking out loud.

The instructor does well with this video series. She is concise and to the point. I knew most of the general ideas she talked about–you can find them around–but this helped me get into the small details that could be make-or-break things for my own work (I would list them but there are too many points in the overall series to do that). The only feedback I think I have is that the videos could benefit from a bit more in depth examples for summaries and objectives, ones that could show a bit more variety to encompass more fields of work and personal backgrounds. Other than that, everything was exceptionally good and helpful.
I really enjoyed this course. It’s been over 10 years since I needed to update my resume and I needed to start from scratch. Katie’s online course kept me from using the old, stale methodology that I used previously in my resumes and provided plenty of examples. And if you are experienced this will still give you plenty of tips and guidance to produce something stunning. I run live courses for local people seeking employment, concentrating on the complete process. I will recommend this course to them (especially graduates) because it is so comprehensive in the specific area of writing a resume or, as we say in the UK, a CV. It is very clear from her style that Katie is a good professional teacher so that she puts her points across clearly and with such enthusiasm that she carries you. We’ve all had bad teachers that we want to forget and others that so inspire and motivate us that we remember what they taught us years after. Katie is certainly in the latter group. I was very nervous about sharing my first attempt at professional writing with anyone, let alone an editor. Like most authors, I had self-edited and utilized an editing-application to help minimize errors. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Katie, but I envisioned shamefully receiving my edited draft back from her, covered with red-pen “corrections,” just like in middle school. When my first edited draft was returned, however, I was amazed. Katie caught errors that the editing application hadn’t, offered suggestions for re-wording sentences (I tend to write in the passive voice) to enhance the clarity of the message, and suggested moving chapters, and relocating paragraphs, (or to delete them entirely because of redundancy.) She took what I wrote and simply made it better, without detracting from my personal voice or writing style.
We had a slight misunderstanding in the beginning, regarding the number of rounds of edits. Once it was discovered we laughed it off, and got on a solid track, communicating easily and frequently.
I found her directness to be refreshing. She doesn’t waste time coddling your ego or telling you what you’d like to hear. She tells it “like it is,” yet she does this in a respectful, affirming, and kind manner. Katie understands that writing a book is hard work. I was very nervous about handing over my personal story to an editor, but very soon in the editing process, Katie surprised me with her first message to me. It was respectful, kind, generous, and I felt confident my book was in the right hands. I have nothing to compare her skillset to as I’m a first-time author. Expectations weren’t really clear and the timeline was not as expected, but I learned to let the process happen the way it needed to and forego expectations/irritations.
